Our impact statement

As a purpose and impact driven business it is important we are transparent about our mission, our goals and where we aim to get to.

This page will details our steps to eventually creating a full sustainability impact statement for Be The Future. It will be a long time in development due to the frequently changing nature at the point our project is currently in, but we wanted to make sure we share our mission, ethos, values and progression with you.

Our journey so far:

Late 2020 - being fed up with doom and gloom, both signed up to #tacklethecrisis in a bid to spread positive news.

Dec 2020 - Sally spots Helen’s business name and is intrigued so checks her out. In the midst of the COVID pandemic, Sally emailed Helen with a question along the lines of ‘I have this idea and I think it’d be great to work together - what do you think?’. Always up for taking more on Helen said yes and off they went.

April 2021 - After a LOT of debate we finalised our name, Helen created the branding and we started our Instagram channel.

May 2021 - Both completed the Climate Reality Leader training with Al Gore.

June 2021 - Lockdown briefly lifts so both do a mad-dash to the mid-point that was Grantham to actually meet IRL.

November 2021 - Sally relocates back to her motherland Sydney and BTF becomes an international project. And we found a mutual dislike of clock changes and timezones.

Jan 2022 - The Hope. Act. Thrive. podcast is released into the wild.

October 2022 - Joined Design Declares - a network of design agencies helping to raise awareness of the climate crisis and make steps to change behaviours in the industry.

January 2023 - Helen attends the Better Business Summit in Manchester UK and promptly signs up to the Better Business Network.

February 2023 - Helen completed her Climate Change Coach training with The Climate Change Coaches.

March 2023 - Sally starts the HATCH accelerator programme with Taronga zoo.

May 2023 - Helen completes Carbon Literacy training with the Better Business Network.

Our mission:

We believe that all of us must play our part. In the face of governments doing little or nothing to create change, it is up to all of us to make change.

We believe in the power of families and schools to rewrite the climate story.

But we will not do this with fear-mongering and doom and gloom.

We believe that the way to action is through instilling hope, positivity and play. Climate is BIG topic but that doesn’t mean it has to be accompanied by big, bad feelings. It can be approached with humour, fun and storytelling.

Where are we now?

We are making steps towards creating a cyclical process - but it will not happen all at once. With each kit we release we aim to advance a step further in making this goal a reality.

We are working with sustainable printers and B-Corps to produce our first kit who are actively looking to reduce their waste throughout the process.

In order to offset the impact that is inevitable with our first products, we are also working with an organisation to ensure that plastic is removed from the oceans for every product made / sold.

We are also continuously working on build collaborations with other planet positive businesses to amplify our voices and impact. There is a lot of work going on with this in the background and details will be released in due course.

Our targets:
